The RAP Working Group terms of reference set out the group’s role to: In the eight years since the Opera House joined Reconciliation Australia’s RAP program, it has broadened and strengthened our commitment, embedding the values of reconciliation across everything we do. This plan brings focus and clarity to our First Nations activities, a roadmap to achieving the organisation’s reconciliation aspirations. In 2011, the Opera House became the first performing arts organization in Australia to develop a Reconciliation Action Plan. The Opera House carries on this legacy by embracing and celebrating the culture of Australia’s First Peoples and First Nations globally. The Gadigal and Sydney basin clans would meet on the tidal island, dance, sing, feast, exchange knowledge and share stories. Since time immemorial Tubowgule, the land on which the Opera House stands, has been a place of gathering and belonging. We are passionate about respecting, embracing and celebrating First Nations cultures, through visitor experiences and creative programming.
